GETTING THERE
The suburbs of Beachlands and Maraetai mark the eastern most settlements of significant size in the super city and you'll even find significant rural tracks as you drive towards them from the southern motorway. Although somewhat remote, the road links are excellent and you can expect to arrive in just over 30 minutes from the centre of town. Beware, however, that the road going past the venue becomes very congested as the race start approaches and the two on-site car parks fill up.
Event marshals will monitor the two on-site car parks to ensure vehicles are not allowed to enter once the parks are full. This may happen sooner than you think and we usually reccommend arriving at the race site by 6:30am if you plan to utilise these. If you are arriving much after this time, a safer option is to turn into Beachlands Rd and find street parking - which is plentiful and convenient - in the local streets.
Tip: If you are unfamiliar with the venue, set your GPS to...
Te Puru Park, Beachlands, Auckland
... which takes you to the main event venue.
On race morning, marshals will advise if the two on-site car parks are available. See below.
Parking Map
With little in the way of other transport options, most participants will opt to drive to the event. We encourge all participants to check in with friends, family and running mates and to car pool wherever possible. Once at the venue, the majority of half marathon runners should be accommodated in the two on-site car parks.
For those in the shorter events - especially those arriving after 7am - we reccommend turning left onto Beachlands Rd at the main roundabout and finding street parking in local roads.
Important! The lane closure on the main road past the venue will be active shortly after 7am and extensive delays are inevitable. DO NOT attempt to even drive past the venue after 7am.
Traffic Management
The safe operation of the Maraetai Half Marathon requires some very limited road and lane closures in the Beachlands and Maraetai area. We have done everything possible to keep these disruptions to an absolute minimum.
The primary restriction is that traffic may only flow from Clevedon towards Maraetai from 6:30-11am on race day. During this time, NO TRAFFIC may enter Maraetai Coast Rd heading east. Other minor road and lane closures are also in effect ... see the traffic management map here for details.
The event organisers wish to place on record their sincere thanks to Auckland Council, Auckland Transport and local residents for their assistance in the safe operation of this fun community focussed, fitness event.
